Web design Hervey Bay for whale season and beyond.
DIGITALON designs and builds WordPress websites for Hervey Bay businesses, from whale-watching and K'gari tour operators at Urangan to accommodation, cafés, trades and clinics along the Esplanade. Every site is planned and built by our team at Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast, for a price fixed in writing at the start.
The season is booked online first.
Hervey Bay strings its suburbs along the shore of a sheltered bay, from Point Vernon through Pialba, Scarness and Torquay to Urangan, with K'gari across the water. In the second half of each year humpback whales rest in the bay on their migration south, and the cruises, island tours, accommodation and cafés that serve visitors have their busiest months.
Those visitors decide from a distance, usually on a phone. They compare cruises, island tours and places to stay before they arrive, and they need what a brochure never fits: where the boat leaves from, what is included, what happens if the weather turns and whether the trip runs outside whale season. A Hervey Bay website should answer all of it before anyone has to call.
Which trip, which day, from where?
Visitors compare trips side by side and move on from any operator who hides the departure point, the price or the cancellation terms.
- Departure points and times
- What is included, and what isn't
- Weather and cancellation terms

What every DIGITALON website includes.
The same Australian team designs, builds, hosts and supports the site, so nothing in the list below is quoted again later.
Designed for your business, not a theme
Every page is designed from scratch in WordPress around what you sell and who buys it. You are not picking a template and hoping your content fits it.
Built to be found
Clean structure, fast pages, sensible headings and metadata come as standard. Keyword research and on-page SEO are included from Standard, and AI search optimisation at Premium.
Readable on the phone first
Most local searches happen on a phone. Layouts, menus, forms and buttons are checked at desktop, tablet and phone widths before the site goes live.
Yours to edit
You get the admin login, a site you can update yourself and 1:1 training at Premium. If you would rather not touch it, our maintenance packages cover the updates for you.
Hosted and supported in Australia
Australian cloud hosting, SSL, nightly backups and a support team you can reach by phone or email, with no offshore help desk in between.
Hervey Bay websites at fixed prices.
Five pages suit a business with one main service, ten leave room for a page per tour, room type or service, and twenty suit a larger operator with several trips, a gallery and news to keep current.

View details ↗What Wurtulla means for Hervey Bay.
Wurtulla, on the Sunshine Coast, is well south of Hervey Bay down the Bruce Highway, and we don't have an office on the Fraser Coast. Your project is handled in calls, emails and screen-shared online meetings, with the same team member as your contact from the first chat to launch day.
For a business that is flat out in whale season, that matters: reviews fit around departures and check-ins rather than the other way round. You supply what only a local can, such as the trips that sell out, the questions guests ask at the counter and the photos from your own deck, and every page passes you in draft first.
Seasons planned, one contactOff-season pages too
Trips, specials and packages for the quieter months get their own pages, so the site keeps selling after the whales have headed south.
Departure points spelled out
Urangan Boat Harbour, River Heads or a pick-up: each trip page says where to be and when, with a map that opens on a phone.
Terms before payment
Weather and cancellation terms sit on every trip page, so guests know the rules before they pay and the phone isn't tied up with the same question.
One contact through the season
The same person at Wurtulla answers your calls before launch and after it, so a change in the busy weeks doesn't start from scratch.
We deliver. You celebrate.
A website build runs on a short, predictable path. Most sites take one to three weeks to a first version, then move at the pace of your feedback.
Talk it through
We ask what the business does, who you want to reach and what the website has to achieve.
Agree the plan
You get a fixed price, a page map and a content outline, with placeholders where you need them.
Design and build
We design the pages, build them in WordPress and check them at every screen size.
Review and launch
Three rounds of revisions on structure and content, then launch, training and support.

What attracted us to DIGITALON is their promise to make sites that work. They absolutely delivered on this.
Hervey Bay website questions.
Prices, GST, seasons, bookings and support, for tour operators and local businesses around the bay.
Ask us about your website ↗We run whale-watching cruises in season and island tours the rest of the year. Which package fits?
Usually Standard, ten pages for $3,990: home, about and contact, a page for each cruise or tour, one on departure points and one for terms and common questions. With Standard's keyword research and on-page SEO, each trip page is shaped around the searches visitors really make.
A single-tour operator can start on Essentials, five pages for $2,990. Premium, twenty pages for $4,990, adds a self-editable blog, which suits sighting reports and seasonal news. All three are compared on website design pricing.
Our income is seasonal. Is GST included in the price, and can we spread the cost instead?
Yes, GST is included: the one-off prices of $2,990, $3,990 and $4,990 are in Australian dollars with GST, itemised on your tax invoice, and nothing about the build is invoiced later.
If a monthly payment suits your cash flow better, the Small Business Monthly Packs bundle the website, hosting and maintenance into one monthly fee, with a minimum term set out on that page.
Can guests buy prints and merchandise online after their trip?
Yes. An online store on WooCommerce starts at $4,990: the six-page Basic package covers home, about and contact pages plus the shop, cart and checkout, takes card and PayPal and charges a flat shipping rate, so a guest back home can order a print of the day they saw the whales.
Standard ($5,990) brings SEO, customer accounts, discount coupons and advanced shipping rules, and Premium ($7,990) brings Afterpay, Apple Pay and Google Pay, order tracking and live product search. The build price excludes hosting, the domain, card-processing fees and maintenance; see eCommerce pricing.
Our season is on and we can't stop for a website. How much of our time does a build take?
Your part is small: a first call, answers to the content outline and three short review rounds on structure and content. The first draft usually follows one to two weeks after we begin, or a little longer for a site with more functions.
Reviews are booked at times you choose, so they can sit between departures or after the last check-in, and the project moves exactly as fast as your feedback.
We have hundreds of whale and island photos. How do we choose which go on the site?
Send the folder and let the page plan decide. Our content outline lists the images each page needs, such as one hero shot per trip, a few of the boat or rooms and a team photo, and placeholders hold any gaps until the right picture turns up.
Your own photos usually beat stock images, because visitors can see the actual boat, rooms or table they are booking. You approve every page, pictures included, before it goes live.
International visitors read our site on a phone, sometimes in a second language. What helps them?
Plain, short sentences and clear structure. Each trip page leads with the essentials in the same order: what it is, when it runs, where it leaves from, what it costs in Australian dollars and how to book, with a map and buttons that work with one tap.
We run the booking path on phones, tablets and desktops before launch, so it works on the small screens most visitors carry.
Do visitors search for K'gari or Fraser Island, and which should our pages use?
Usually both. K'gari is the island's official name and many visitors still know it as Fraser Island, so pages can use both naturally. Keyword research, included from Standard, shows which names and phrases people type for your trips, and on-page SEO puts them into headings, page titles and descriptions.
Premium includes AI search optimisation (GEO), describing your trips, seasons and departure points in a form AI assistants can read easily. Those tools and Google make their own choices about what to show, so no ranking or mention is promised; ask about our SEO packages for ongoing work.
Our current site still links to a booking page we stopped using. Can a redesign tidy that up?
Yes. A website redesign removes dead ends, redirects old addresses to the right pages and keeps the web addresses that still bring visitors, so links in old guides and emails keep working.
Connecting a current booking system is scoped before we quote: a simple link or button is straightforward, while a deeper integration is agreed in writing before any work starts.
We're a two-person operation. Who handles updates, backups and security once the site is live?
We can. Our Australian WordPress hosting keeps the site on Australian servers with SSL and backups, and a maintenance package takes the updates, security monitoring and small text changes off your hands.
You keep your own admin login, so a sold-out trip or a new special can go up from the boat ramp on a phone, and a support call reaches the people who built the site.
Is it a problem that you're not on the Fraser Coast?
It doesn't need to be. Our team works from Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast, south of Hervey Bay, and the project runs on calls, email and online meetings, with one contact from start to finish. Book a time that suits you on our contact page.
One of the redesigns in our portfolio is Sunshine Coast & Wide Bay Gynaecology, a specialist practice whose website serves patients across both regions.
