Retail website design that serves like your staff.

In a good shop, someone answers questions, suggests the item that goes with it and mentions the delivery offer at the counter. DIGITALON, at Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast, designs WooCommerce retail websites that do the same for online shoppers across Australia.

The counter conversation, online.

A shopper in a store can ask whether it comes in a larger size, what it works with and whether there is a case for it. Online, nobody is there to ask, so the product page has to answer before the question is raised, and the store has to make the suggestions a good salesperson would make, without pressure and without clutter.

This page is about those moments: answering counter questions on the page, suggesting what goes together, setting a delivery offer that encourages one more item, and making a person easy to reach when the page cannot help. Seasonal ranges and promotions belong to retail website designs, and moving a physical shop online to taking your shop online.

Five jobs a retail website takes over.

What a shop assistant does at the counter, and how a WooCommerce store does it online.

Answer the counter questions

List what customers ask at the counter, then put the answers on the product page: sizes and fit, materials, dimensions, what is in the box and what it works with. Specifications kept as attributes make the answers consistent across the range and usable as filters.

Suggest the better option

WooCommerce upsells show a higher-specification or larger alternative on the product page, the way staff mention the model above. Use them sparingly and honestly: one or two genuine alternatives help a shopper choose, while a long list looks like pressure.

Add what goes with it

Cross-sells appear in the cart and suggest the batteries, case, refill or care product that belongs with the item. They are set product by product in WooCommerce, so the suggestions make sense instead of showing random best sellers.

A delivery offer that lifts the basket

A free-shipping threshold, such as free delivery over a set order value, gives shoppers a reason to add one more item. Set it from your average order and margin, and state it on product pages and in the cart; free-shipping rules come with every package.

A person within easy reach

Some questions need a human: a phone number in the header, an enquiry form and clear opening hours. Answer them quickly, then add the answer to the product page, so the next shopper finds it there.

Retail website packages, from shelf to cart.

Upsells, cross-sells and free-shipping rules come with every package. Standard adds customer accounts, filters and advanced shipping rules; Premium adds Afterpay, live search and product compare.

Hosting, your domain, your payment provider’s transaction fees and ongoing maintenance are separate. The page counts are website pages, not a product limit: catalogue size, product imports, migrations and custom integrations are agreed and quoted before work starts. Compare every inclusion and the optional features on eCommerce pricing, or see website design packages if you do not need a shop.

Your store, your hosting, your login.

Every DIGITALON store is a custom WordPress and WooCommerce build. WooCommerce is free and open source, takes no commission on your sales and runs on hosting you choose, with the administrator login yours from day one.

The shop and the pages that bring shoppers to it live in one WordPress site, edited the same way. You can run it yourself, or hand the updates to the team that built it.

01

No platform commission

Your payment provider charges its transaction fee. WooCommerce itself takes no percentage of your sales and has no monthly platform fee.

02

Hosting you choose

Keep your own host, or use our managed WordPress hosting, sized for the catalogue and the traffic you expect.

03

Care after launch

Our maintenance packages cover plugin and WooCommerce updates, backups, security checks and support.

04

One Australian team

The people who scope, design and build the store are the people who answer your questions, from Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast.

From brief to first order.

A basic store usually takes two to three weeks. Extra features and integrations add time, and we tell you how much before we begin.

Step 01

Scope and price

We agree the pages, catalogue, features and search work, then confirm the package, any extras and the payment stages in writing.

Step 02

Design

You see the design and sign it off before the build starts, while changing a layout is still quick.

Step 03

Build and test

Products, payments, shipping and tax are set up in WooCommerce, then tested with real orders on a phone and a desktop.

Step 04

Launch and hand over

We go live and hand over your administrator login. Standard and Premium include one-to-one training on your own store.

Online stores we have built.

These are stores and online sales sites our team designed and built. They show completed work, not a promise of the same result for every business.

I was very impressed as they were very responsive and helpful as I was a newbie. Good communication with Sabrina who took the time to explain all the process and gave some tips.

Questions about retail website design.

Product questions, suggestions, delivery offers, help from staff, packages, price, GST, payments, moving across, timing and care after launch.

Ask us about your store
Is retail website design priced per page or per package?

Per package, as a one-off build price: $4,990 for Basic with 6 pages, $5,990 for Standard with 10 and $7,990 for Premium with 20. The page counts are website pages, not a product limit. Extras such as point-of-sale connections are quoted separately, and every inclusion is on our eCommerce pricing page.

Our shelf prices include GST. Do yours?

Yes. $4,990, $5,990 and $7,990 are one-off build prices with GST included, the same way your shelf prices are shown to shoppers, and your tax invoice shows the GST amount. Hosting, your domain, payment provider fees and maintenance are separate.

Can the store suggest accessories the way our staff do?

Yes. WooCommerce lets you link cross-sells to each product, shown in the cart, and upsells, shown on the product page, so the suggestions are the ones your staff would make. Setting them for a large range takes time, so start with your best sellers and the items most often bought together.

Does a free-shipping threshold really increase order value?

It can, but it depends on the threshold. Set too high, shoppers ignore it; set too low, it gives away postage on orders that would have happened anyway. Start from your average order value and margin, then adjust it using WooCommerce's sales reports. Free-shipping rules with a minimum order come with every package.

Can shoppers ask a question before they buy?

Yes. A phone number, an enquiry form and your opening hours can sit on every page, so a shopper with a question reaches a person rather than leaving. Questions that come up often should be answered on the product page, so the next shopper does not need to ask.

We stock a few hundred lines. Which package fits?

Standard, for most. It adds product filters and categories, customer accounts with order history, advanced shipping rules and SEO, which a few hundred products need. Basic suits a small range, and Premium adds Afterpay, live search, product compare and order tracking for larger or busier stores.

Can our current website's products move into the new design?

Yes. Products, categories, customers and order history can be carried across from most platforms, with addresses that rank kept or redirected. The move is assessed and quoted separately, and the old site keeps trading until the new one has been tested.

Which ways to pay should a retail website offer?

The ones your customers already use at the counter. Every package takes Visa, Mastercard and American Express through Stripe, plus PayPal; Premium adds Apple Pay, Google Pay and Afterpay. Live Australia Post, Sendle or courier rates are a quoted add-on, and your payment provider charges its own fees.

When could the retail website take its first order?

A basic store usually takes two to three weeks. Your product data, photos and feedback set the rest of the schedule, along with any extras such as linked suggestions across a large range. We agree the timing with the scope and price before work starts.

Who looks after the retail website once it is trading?

You own it and hold the administrator login, with one-to-one training from Standard, so your team can update products and suggestions. Our maintenance packages can take over updates and security. SEO groundwork comes with Standard and GEO with Premium; no ranking or AI citation is promised, and ongoing SEO is a separate service.

Bring your counter skills online.

Tell us what your customers ask, what you suggest and how you deliver. Our team at Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast will plan the product pages and suggestions for your range, recommend a package and confirm the price before work starts. Design reviews and training happen online.
