Pet store website design for every animal you stock.

Pet owners shop by animal, age and size, buy the same food again and again and expect heavy bags delivered. DIGITALON, at Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast, builds WooCommerce stores for Australian pet shops and pet supply retailers around those habits.

Owners shop for one animal.

A pet owner rarely browses the whole store. They shop for one animal: a senior cat, a large-breed puppy, two budgies or a reef tank. They want food that suits its age and size, the right flavour in the right bag size and accessories that fit. Then they come back every few weeks for the same food, and notice quickly if it is out of stock or the delivery costs more than the bag.

A pet store website is built around that: navigation by animal and life stage, food sizes and flavours as variations, quick reordering, honest delivery pricing for heavy bags and local delivery where you can offer it. Prescription diets and medicines follow the rules that apply to them, and grooming or other services can be booked through a booking website.

What a pet store website needs.

Six areas to plan before a pet range goes online.

Navigation by animal and life stage

Start the menu with the animal, then the category: dog food, cat litter, bird seed, aquarium filters. Life stage and size, such as puppy, adult, senior or large breed, belong in attributes, so filters from Standard narrow the food to the right pet.

Bag sizes and flavours on one page

A dry food in four bag sizes and three flavours is one product with variations, each with its own price and stock, so owners compare bag sizes on one page instead of searching through separate listings.

Postage that suits a 20 kg bag

A 20 kg bag of food costs more to send than a toy. Shipping classes by weight, local delivery zones for your own runs and a free-delivery threshold keep postage honest; Standard adds rules by weight, location and cart value.

Repeat orders made quick

Owners buy the same food every few weeks. Customer accounts with order history, included from Standard, and WooCommerce's order again button make that a one-step reorder; automatic subscriptions that charge on a schedule are a quoted extension.

Prescription diets and medicines

Prescription diets and veterinary medicines can carry conditions on who may sell or supply them and how. Check the rules that apply to your products before the build; such products can be listed for enquiry rather than checkout. The website gives no veterinary advice.

Services, and what stays in store

Grooming, training classes and boarding suit a booking system linked from the store. Some products and services are better handled in person, so the website states clearly what can be ordered online and what is available in store only.

Pet store packages, from corner shop to warehouse.

Every package handles bag sizes and flavours as variations, with card and PayPal payments. Standard adds filters, customer accounts and advanced shipping rules; Premium adds live search and order tracking.

Hosting, your domain, your payment provider’s transaction fees and ongoing maintenance are separate. The page counts are website pages, not a product limit: catalogue size, product imports, migrations and custom integrations are agreed and quoted before work starts. Compare every inclusion and the optional features on eCommerce pricing, or see website design packages if you do not need a shop.

Your store, your hosting, your login.

Every DIGITALON store is a custom WordPress and WooCommerce build. WooCommerce is free and open source, takes no commission on your sales and runs on hosting you choose, with the administrator login yours from day one.

The shop and the pages that bring shoppers to it live in one WordPress site, edited the same way. You can run it yourself, or hand the updates to the team that built it.

01

No platform commission

Your payment provider charges its transaction fee. WooCommerce itself takes no percentage of your sales and has no monthly platform fee.

02

Hosting you choose

Keep your own host, or use our managed WordPress hosting, sized for the catalogue and the traffic you expect.

03

Care after launch

Our maintenance packages cover plugin and WooCommerce updates, backups, security checks and support.

04

One Australian team

The people who scope, design and build the store are the people who answer your questions, from Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast.

From brief to first order.

A basic store usually takes two to three weeks. Extra features and integrations add time, and we tell you how much before we begin.

Step 01

Scope and price

We agree the pages, catalogue, features and search work, then confirm the package, any extras and the payment stages in writing.

Step 02

Design

You see the design and sign it off before the build starts, while changing a layout is still quick.

Step 03

Build and test

Products, payments, shipping and tax are set up in WooCommerce, then tested with real orders on a phone and a desktop.

Step 04

Launch and hand over

We go live and hand over your administrator login. Standard and Premium include one-to-one training on your own store.

Online stores we have built.

These are stores and online sales sites our team designed and built. They show completed work, not a promise of the same result for every business.

I was very impressed as they were very responsive and helpful as I was a newbie. Good communication with Sabrina who took the time to explain all the process and gave some tips.

Questions about pet store website design.

Animals and life stages, reorders, heavy bags, regulated products, services, payments, packages, price, GST, timing and search.

Ask us about your store
What should a pet store budget for its website?

A one-off $4,990 for Basic, $5,990 for Standard or $7,990 for Premium. Most pet stores need Standard for filters by animal and life stage, customer accounts for repeat orders and advanced shipping rules for heavy bags; Premium adds live search and order tracking. Every inclusion is on our eCommerce pricing page.

Do we add GST to the pet store build price?

No, it is already included in $4,990, $5,990 and $7,990, and your tax invoice shows the amount. Hosting, your domain, payment provider fees and quoted extras such as subscriptions are separate. How GST applies to the products you sell is a question for your accountant.

Can owners shop by their pet's age and size?

Yes. Life stage and size, such as puppy, senior or large breed, are stored as attributes, and filters from Standard narrow the food to the right animal. Supplier files often describe these in different ways, so we standardise them before import as part of the scoped catalogue work.

Can customers reorder the same food in one step?

Yes. With customer accounts from Standard, they open a past order and use WooCommerce's order again button to put the same items in the cart. Automatic subscriptions that charge and ship on a schedule are a quoted extension, set up and tested before launch.

How do we price delivery for 20 kg bags of food?

By weight or shipping class, so heavy bags cost what they cost to send, with local delivery zones for your own runs and a free-delivery threshold if your margin allows. Every package has flat-rate, free and local pickup options; Standard adds rules by weight, location and cart value, and live carrier rates are a quoted add-on.

Can we sell prescription diets online?

Only within the rules that apply to them, which can depend on the product and a vet's involvement. Check those rules before the build; such products can be listed for enquiry rather than sold through the checkout. We set the store up around your answer and give no veterinary or legal advice.

Can customers book grooming through the website?

Yes, through a booking system linked from the store, so appointments are handled separately from product orders. The booking system is scoped and quoted with the store; see our booking website design page. Classes with limited places can also be sold as products.

Which payment methods suit pet supply customers?

Cards and PayPal come with every package, and Premium adds Apple Pay, Google Pay and Afterpay. Bank transfer can be offered for larger orders, such as kennels or breeders buying in bulk. Your payment provider charges its own fees, and we give no finance advice.

How long would a new pet store take, or a move from our old one?

A basic new store usually takes two to three weeks. Moving an existing store, with products, customers and order history carried across and addresses kept or redirected, is assessed and quoted separately and takes longer; the old store keeps trading until the new one has been tested.

Can pet owners find us when they search for a brand?

Clear product names with the brand, animal, life stage and category help search engines and AI tools understand the range, but no one can promise a position, traffic or an AI citation. Standard includes keyword and category research with on-page SEO, Premium adds GEO, and ongoing SEO is separate. You own the store, and our maintenance packages can handle updates.

Make the next bag an easy order.

Tell us which animals you stock for, how big the range is and how you deliver heavy orders. Our team at Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast will plan the navigation, reorders and delivery for your store, recommend a package and confirm the price before work starts.
