Health food store website design for shoppers who read labels.
Health food shoppers filter by organic, gluten free or vegan, buy bulk staples by weight and reorder the ones they like. DIGITALON designs and builds WooCommerce stores for Australian health food retailers from Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast, with chilled delivery and supplement wording settled before the build.
Every claim starts on the supplier's label.
Health food shoppers often arrive with a rule to keep: gluten free for a coeliac in the family, vegan, or certified organic. Online they cannot turn the packet over, so the product page has to carry what the label says and the filters have to be exact. Add chilled and frozen lines, bulk foods weighed into bags and supplements with wording rules of their own, and the store needs more than a product grid.
We build health food stores so the product page does that work. Dietary and certification details are entered as each supplier or certifier states them and become filters, bulk foods sell in set weights, and chilled and frozen lines stay with local delivery or pickup where a parcel cannot keep them cold. Supplements keep the supplier's permitted wording, with no health claims or advice from us, and regular customers can repeat a past order from their account.

What a health food store website needs.
Health food adds certifications, cold chains and wording rules to ordinary online retail, so we settle each one with you before the design starts.
Dietary details as exact filters
Gluten free, vegan, dairy free and similar details are entered as product attributes from each supplier's label, so a filter shows only products that carry the claim. Product filters come with Standard, and a photo of the back of each pack can show ingredients and nutrition information exactly as printed.
Certified organic, as the certifier states
A certified organic product can show its certifier, certificate number and logo exactly as the supplier provides them. Bulk foods you repack in store are a separate question: whether they can still be sold as certified organic is for you and your certifier to settle, not the website.
Bulk foods by weight
Nuts, grains and flours can sell in set packs such as 250 g, 500 g and 1 kg as variations with their own prices and stock, or in 100 g steps, where a quantity of five means 500 g. Weights the shopper types in, or a price per kilogram beside each pack, are quoted.
Chilled and frozen lines, kept local
Ordinary parcels travel unrefrigerated: Australia Post states that its network is not temperature controlled. Chilled and frozen lines therefore sit in their own shipping class, offered only local delivery zones or pickup as agreed at scoping, and a refrigerated courier or set chilled delivery days are quoted.
Supplements in the supplier's wording
Vitamins and other supplements are described only in wording the supplier is permitted to use, with directions and warnings as printed. Therapeutic goods advertising rules apply to retailers' listings as well as the supplier's, so we add no health claims of our own and give no health or regulatory advice.
Repeat orders for everyday staples
Regulars tend to buy the same oats, nut butters and teas. With customer accounts in Standard, a past order goes back in the cart in its same pack sizes through WooCommerce's order again button, and a wish list keeps a running list of favourites. Deliveries on a set rhythm are subscriptions, quoted to scope.

Hosting, your domain, your payment provider’s transaction fees and ongoing maintenance are separate. The page counts are website pages, not a product limit: catalogue size, product imports, migrations and custom integrations are agreed and quoted before work starts. Compare every inclusion and the optional features on eCommerce pricing, or see website design packages if you do not need a shop.
Your store, your hosting, your login.
Every DIGITALON store is a custom WordPress and WooCommerce build. WooCommerce is free and open source, takes no commission on your sales and runs on hosting you choose, with the administrator login yours from day one.
The shop and the pages that bring shoppers to it live in one WordPress site, edited the same way. You can run it yourself, or hand the updates to the team that built it.
No platform commission
Your payment provider charges its transaction fee. WooCommerce itself takes no percentage of your sales and has no monthly platform fee.
Hosting you choose
Keep your own host, or use our managed WordPress hosting, sized for the catalogue and the traffic you expect.
Care after launch
Our maintenance packages cover plugin and WooCommerce updates, backups, security checks and support.
One Australian team
The people who scope, design and build the store are the people who answer your questions, from Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast.
From brief to first order.
A basic store usually takes two to three weeks. Extra features and integrations add time, and we tell you how much before we begin.
Scope and price
We agree the pages, catalogue, features and search work, then confirm the package, any extras and the payment stages in writing.
Design
You see the design and sign it off before the build starts, while changing a layout is still quick.
Build and test
Products, payments, shipping and tax are set up in WooCommerce, then tested with real orders on a phone and a desktop.
Launch and hand over
We go live and hand over your administrator login. Standard and Premium include one-to-one training on your own store.

Health food store website questions.
Dietary claims, bulk weights, chilled delivery, supplements, reorders, price and timing.
Ask us about your store ↗What does a health food store with bulk and chilled lines cost to build?
Basic is $4,990 (6 pages), Standard $5,990 (10 pages) and Premium $7,990 (20 pages), each a one-off build price in Australian dollars that already includes GST. Weights typed in by the shopper, subscriptions, a refrigerated courier connection, product imports and moving an existing store are quoted before work starts.
Every inclusion is on our eCommerce pricing page.
Which package gives shoppers organic, gluten free and vegan filters?
Standard. Its product filters and categories turn the dietary and certification details on each product into filters, and it adds customer accounts with order history for repeat orders, a wish list, advanced shipping rules for chilled and heavy lines, and keyword research with on-page SEO. Premium adds live search, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Afterpay, and a blog; Basic suits a small range without filters.
Who decides which products can be called organic or gluten free?
Your suppliers and certifiers do, and you confirm it. We set up where dietary and certification details appear and how shoppers filter by them, using your labels and certificates, never claims of our own. For foods you repack in store, whether a claim such as certified organic or gluten free still applies is for you and your certifier to settle; we give no regulatory advice.
Can customers buy nuts, grains and flours by weight?
Yes, in set packs or measured steps. Each product can offer packs such as 500 g and 1 kg as variations with their own prices and stock, or sell in 100 g steps, so stock is counted in the same units. Weights shoppers type in themselves are quoted custom work, and heavy sacks ship by weight under Standard's advanced shipping rules.
Can frozen and chilled lines be limited to local delivery or pickup?
Yes. Chilled and frozen products sit in their own shipping class, and checkout offers them only your local delivery zones or pickup from the shop, as agreed at scoping. When a cart mixes chilled and dry goods, the whole order follows the chilled options unless splitting it into two deliveries is quoted. A refrigerated courier connection is quoted too.
How are vitamins and supplements described on the site?
Only in the wording your supplier is permitted to use, with directions and warnings as printed on the label. Supplements that are listed medicines carry advertising rules set by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), which apply to a retailer's product pages too, so we add no health claims of our own. You confirm the wording before launch; we give no health, medical or regulatory advice.
How do regular customers buy the same staples again?
From their account, which comes with Standard: a past order can go back into the cart with WooCommerce's order again button, same pack sizes included, ready to adjust before paying, and items now unavailable are left out with a note to the customer. Staples bought on a fixed rhythm can become subscriptions, a quoted extension scoped before the build.
Who updates the store when a supplier changes a recipe or certification?
Your team can, because you own the store and hold the administrator login. Ingredients, dietary attributes and certification details are edited on each product, and WooCommerce's CSV exporter and importer change many products at once, with one-to-one training in Standard and Premium. If you would rather hand it over, our Advanced and Premium maintenance packages include eCommerce site updates.
What sets the timeline for a health food store build?
Mostly the product data. A basic store usually takes two to three weeks, but every line needs its dietary and certification details, pack weights and label photos before it can be filtered and sold, so gathering them from suppliers can set the pace. Subscriptions, weights typed in by shoppers and courier connections add time, agreed with the scope and price.
Will people searching for health food online find our store?
They can, but no one can promise a position. Standard and Premium include keyword and category research and on-page work, so categories and products use the words shoppers search with, such as gluten free pasta or organic oats, and Premium adds AI search optimisation (GEO). Search copy follows the same wording rules, so it adds no health claims, and ongoing SEO is a separate service.
Send us the range, labels included.
Tell us what you stock, from bulk bins and chilled lines to supplements, which dietary and certification details your suppliers provide, and where you can deliver chilled orders. DIGITALON's in-house team at Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast will match the store to a package, separate anything quoted and confirm the price in writing before work starts.
