WooCommerce development for busy, bigger stores.

A store with thousands of products or a rush of orders needs more than a bigger server: it needs WooCommerce set up to store, find and process data efficiently. DIGITALON develops WooCommerce stores on the Sunshine Coast, with that work scoped up front.

Growth shows up in the database.

As a store grows, the strain moves from the pages shoppers see to the work behind them: thousands of products and variations to filter, orders arriving in bursts, imports and stock updates running alongside sales, and scheduled jobs that must not pile up. A bigger hosting plan helps only so far; past that point the store needs development work on how it stores and processes data.

We develop WooCommerce stores with that growth in mind: current order storage, lookup tables that keep filters quick, object caching on hosting that supports it, imports that run in the background in batches, scheduled tasks on a reliable timer, and a copy of the store to test changes before a big sale. Engineering a new store well from the start is covered in our development guide.

Developing WooCommerce for scale.

Six pieces of development work that keep a large or busy WooCommerce store quick. Each is scoped to the store before it is quoted.

Orders in their own tables

Current WooCommerce versions keep orders in dedicated high-performance tables rather than among posts and pages. Older stores can move across once their extensions support it; we check compatibility, migrate on a copy first and keep both stores of data in sync until the switch.

Filters that read lookup tables

Filtering thousands of variations by size, colour or brand is slow if every query searches raw product data. WooCommerce's product attribute lookup tables answer those filters faster; we enable and rebuild them, then test the filters against the full catalogue.

Object caching for repeat work

Pages that can't be fully cached, such as carts, accounts and filtered lists, still repeat the same database questions. Object caching with Redis keeps the answers in memory; our Advanced and Premium hosting include it, and we check the store actually uses it.

Imports that run in the background

Large catalogue updates should run in batches without slowing the shop. WooCommerce's importer works in batches, and scheduled feeds or bulk updates can run as background jobs at quiet times, with a log of what changed and what failed.

Scheduled tasks on a reliable timer

WooCommerce relies on scheduled background tasks for sale start and end times, emails, report data and other housekeeping. On a busy store they should run from a real server timer rather than waiting for site visits, and a growing queue is a warning sign worth checking.

A copy to test the busy days

Before a big sale, a new feature or a major update, test it on a copy of the store with realistic data. Testing the copy with simulated traffic and test orders, a quoted job, shows where the store slows without risking live customers.

Build packages, with scale work quoted on top.

One-off build prices with GST included. Development for large catalogues, imports and busy periods is scoped and quoted on top, once we have seen the data.

Hosting, your domain, your payment provider’s transaction fees and ongoing maintenance are separate. The page counts are website pages, not a product limit: catalogue size, product imports, migrations and custom integrations are agreed and quoted before work starts. Compare every inclusion and the optional features on eCommerce pricing, or see website design packages if you do not need a shop.

Your store, your hosting, your login.

Every DIGITALON store is a custom WordPress and WooCommerce build. WooCommerce is free and open source, takes no commission on your sales and runs on hosting you choose, with the administrator login yours from day one.

The shop and the pages that bring shoppers to it live in one WordPress site, edited the same way. You can run it yourself, or hand the updates to the team that built it.

01

No platform commission

Your payment provider charges its transaction fee. WooCommerce itself takes no percentage of your sales and has no monthly platform fee.

02

Hosting you choose

Keep your own host, or use our managed WordPress hosting, sized for the catalogue and the traffic you expect.

03

Care after launch

Our maintenance packages cover plugin and WooCommerce updates, backups, security checks and support.

04

One Australian team

The people who scope, design and build the store are the people who answer your questions, from Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast.

From brief to first order.

A basic store usually takes two to three weeks. Extra features and integrations add time, and we tell you how much before we begin.

Step 01

Scope and price

We agree the pages, catalogue, features and search work, then confirm the package, any extras and the payment stages in writing.

Step 02

Design

You see the design and sign it off before the build starts, while changing a layout is still quick.

Step 03

Build and test

Products, payments, shipping and tax are set up in WooCommerce, then tested with real orders on a phone and a desktop.

Step 04

Launch and hand over

We go live and hand over your administrator login. Standard and Premium include one-to-one training on your own store.

Online stores we have built.

These are stores and online sales sites our team designed and built. They show completed work, not a promise of the same result for every business.

I was very impressed as they were very responsive and helpful as I was a newbie. Good communication with Sabrina who took the time to explain all the process and gave some tips.

Questions about WooCommerce development.

Package fit, GST, hosting or development, order tables, filters, imports, scheduled tasks, load testing, search and upkeep.

Ask us about your store
Do big catalogues need Premium?

Not for size alone: page counts are website pages, not a product limit. Large catalogues usually want Standard's filters and categories, and Premium adds live product search and product compare. Development for scale, such as imports and data tuning, is quoted on top. See eCommerce pricing.

Is development work quoted with GST included?

Yes. The package prices of $4,990, $5,990 and $7,990 include GST, and scoped development for imports, data tuning or testing is quoted the same way, agreed in writing before work starts.

When does a store need development rather than better hosting?

When the slowdown follows the data rather than the visitors: filters that crawl only on big categories, an admin that stalls as orders pile up, imports that slow the shop, or a growing queue of scheduled tasks. More server resources help when traffic is the cause; data problems need development.

What are high-performance order tables?

WooCommerce's current way of storing orders in their own database tables instead of among posts, which keeps order searches and the admin quicker on busy stores. New stores use them by default; older stores can switch once their extensions are compatible, which we test on a copy first.

Why do product filters slow down on big catalogues?

Because every filter click asks the database to search attributes across thousands of products and variations. WooCommerce's attribute lookup tables make those queries lighter, and object caching helps further. We test the filters against the full catalogue before launch, not just a sample.

Can large imports run without slowing the shop?

Yes, when they run in batches in the background at quiet times. One-off loads use WooCommerce's importer; regular supplier feeds or stock updates run as scheduled background jobs with a log of what changed. Large imports are scoped and quoted before work starts.

What happens to scheduled tasks on a busy store?

They queue up if nothing runs them on time. WooCommerce uses scheduled tasks for things like sale start and end times, emails and report data, and by default WordPress triggers them on site visits. A real server timer keeps them running steadily; a growing queue points to a problem.

Can you test the store under load before a big sale?

Yes, as quoted work: on a copy of the store with realistic data, we simulate traffic and place test orders to find where it slows, then fix what we find before the sale. A basic store build takes about two to three weeks; load testing is scheduled separately.

How do big catalogues stay crawlable for search engines?

With clear categories, clean addresses and filters that don't create endless near-duplicate pages for search engines to crawl. Keyword and category research with on-page SEO comes with Standard and GEO with Premium; a large catalogue may need ongoing work through our SEO packages, with no promised positions.

Do updates undo performance tuning?

They can, because updates change how WooCommerce stores and processes data, so on a large store each round should be checked on a copy first. Our maintenance packages cover eCommerce site updates from Advanced, with large eCommerce site updates in Premium, and further tuning is quoted on-demand work. The store remains yours.
