Web design Cairns for the Far North.
DIGITALON designs and builds WordPress websites for Cairns businesses, from reef and rainforest tour operators to Tablelands growers, marine trades and suppliers who freight to Cape York and the Torres Strait. The work is done by our own team at Wurtulla, far to the south, for a price fixed in writing first.
Between the reef and the Cape.
Cairns sits on Trinity Inlet between the Great Barrier Reef and the rainforest of the Wet Tropics, and it is the last big city on the way to Cape York. Reef boats leave the Reef Fleet Terminal each morning, the Kuranda railway and Skyrail climb the range, and freight for the Cape and the Torres Strait goes out by sea and air.
So a Cairns website often has two very different readers. A visitor in another country compares reef and rainforest days long before the holiday, while a council, clinic or store on the Cape needs to know whether a supplier can get goods to them, how ordering works and when freight leaves. Each deserves pages written for them, not one page that half-suits both.
Can you reach us?
Visitors want the trip that suits their days in Cairns; buyers on the Cape want a supplier who can actually get goods to them.
- Reef, rainforest or Tablelands trips
- Delivery to the Cape and the Strait
- Who to call, and when
SITE
Speak to each reader.
Separate paths for visitors, local customers and remote buyers keep every reader moving towards a booking, an order or a call.
- A page per trip, range or service
- Freight and ordering made plain
- Light pages for slow connections
What every DIGITALON website includes.
The same Australian team designs, builds, hosts and supports the site, so nothing in the list below is quoted again later.
Designed for your business, not a theme
Every page is designed from scratch in WordPress around what you sell and who buys it. You are not picking a template and hoping your content fits it.
Built to be found
Clean structure, fast pages, sensible headings and metadata come as standard. Keyword research and on-page SEO are included from Standard, and AI search optimisation at Premium.
Readable on the phone first
Most local searches happen on a phone. Layouts, menus, forms and buttons are checked at desktop, tablet and phone widths before the site goes live.
Yours to edit
You get the admin login, a site you can update yourself and 1:1 training at Premium. If you would rather not touch it, our maintenance packages cover the updates for you.
Hosted and supported in Australia
Australian cloud hosting, SSL, nightly backups and a support team you can reach by phone or email, with no offshore help desk in between.
Cairns websites at a fixed price.
A single service fits in five pages; a business with visitors, locals and remote buyers usually needs ten to give each its own path; a supplier with many ranges, branches or regular news is better served by twenty.

Wurtulla is on the Sunshine Coast, near the other end of Queensland from Cairns, and we have no office in the Far North. Both ends keep Queensland time all year, so a nine o'clock call is nine o'clock for everyone, and everything is handled by phone, email and online meeting, through a single contact on our side.
That suits businesses that are often out on the water, up on the Tablelands or away on the Cape. Reviews wait until you are back in town, drafts are shared on screen so you can point at what should change, and the local knowledge comes from you: which communities you supply, how freight is timed and what visitors ask first.
One time zone, one contactDelivery areas spelled out
If you supply the Cape, the Strait or the Tablelands, the site names where you deliver and how ordering and freight work.
Pages for patchy coverage
Lean layouts and images sized for phones keep the key pages usable for customers on weak remote signal.
Visitor and trade paths
Tourists and trade buyers get separate routes through the site, so neither wades through information meant for the other.
Notices when things change
Freight days, wet-season closures and new stock can go up from your own login the moment they change.
We deliver. You celebrate.
A website build runs on a short, predictable path. Most sites take one to three weeks to a first version, then move at the pace of your feedback.
Talk it through
We ask what the business does, who you want to reach and what the website has to achieve.
Agree the plan
You get a fixed price, a page map and a content outline, with placeholders where you need them.
Design and build
We design the pages, build them in WordPress and check them at every screen size.
Review and launch
Three rounds of revisions on structure and content, then launch, training and support.

These are websites our team designed and built. They are examples of completed work, not a promise of the same result for every business.

What attracted us to DIGITALON is their promise to make sites that work. They absolutely delivered on this.
Cairns web design questions.
Prices, GST, freight, remote customers and support, for businesses in Cairns and across the Far North.
Ask us about your website ↗We supply building materials to communities on Cape York. Which package suits us?
Standard, at $3,990, usually fits: ten pages for home, about and contact, your main product groups, a page explaining delivery to the Cape and the Torres Strait, and a page for trade account enquiries. It includes keyword research and on-page SEO, so those pages use the words buyers really search.
A single-trade business can start on Essentials, five pages for $2,990, while a supplier with many ranges or branches may need Premium, twenty pages for $4,990. Every inclusion is listed on website design pricing.
Is GST included, and does building for a business this far north cost extra?
GST is included and there is no northern loading. The same three prices, $2,990, $3,990 and $4,990, apply to businesses across Australia; each is in Australian dollars, and your tax invoice shows the GST as a separate line.
Projects run by phone, email and online meetings, so no travel charge is built into the price, and anything outside your package is quoted in writing before work starts.
We grow coffee and tea on the Tablelands. Can we sell it online to customers around Australia?
Yes. Basic, at $4,990, gives you six store pages, card and PayPal checkout and one postage rate, enough for a small range. Standard, at $5,990, adds product categories and filters, customer accounts with order history, discount coupons and shipping rules that can differ by state or postcode.
Premium, at $7,990, adds Afterpay, Apple Pay and Google Pay, a postage calculator, order tracking and product compare. Recurring subscriptions are not part of a package and are scoped first; hosting, domain, payment and maintenance costs are separate. See eCommerce pricing.
We're opening a second shop in Smithfield. Can the new site be live before it opens?
Usually, if we start a few weeks ahead. A first version typically takes one to two weeks from kick-off, more for a site with extra features; after that come three revision rounds, paced by how quickly you review.
The new shop's page can go live with temporary photos and switch to real ones in the week the doors open.
Who writes the words for each page?
You bring the knowledge and we help shape it into pages. The content outline tells you what each page should cover, you answer in your own words or dot points, and we turn that into readable pages, with placeholders standing in for anything that isn't ready yet.
You approve each page in draft, so the site says what your business really does and nothing it doesn't.
Our customers on the Cape often have patchy mobile coverage. Will the site still load for them?
We build with that in mind. Key pages are kept lean, images are sized for small screens, and the essentials, such as your phone number, ordering steps and freight days, sit near the top so they appear before anything heavier loads.
Before launch we test every layout on a phone, a tablet and a desktop screen. No website can fix a weak signal, but a light page with clear contact details gives a remote customer a fair chance of getting through.
Councils and contractors look for suppliers who service Cape York. How do we show up in their searches?
By saying clearly what you supply and where. Keyword research, part of Standard and Premium, shows the terms those buyers use, and on-page SEO works the communities and regions you service into page titles, headings and descriptions, with a capability page that sets out what you can deliver.
Premium also includes AI search optimisation (GEO), so AI assistants can follow your services and coverage. Nobody controls how Google or an AI tool ranks a business, and we promise no position; longer-term search work sits in our SEO packages.
We merged with a business on the Tablelands. Can one redesigned site cover both?
Yes. A website redesign can bring both businesses into one site with a page for each location, keep the web addresses that already bring enquiries and redirect the old site's pages to their new homes, so existing links and bookmarks still work.
The quote depends on the number of pages, the content and the systems that come across: a straightforward merge may fit a website package, and a bigger one is scoped on its own.
Our last website was hacked and nobody noticed for weeks. How do you keep a site safe?
By keeping it maintained and watched. Our maintenance packages cover WordPress and plugin updates, security and backups, Standard and Premium sites include the WordFence firewall, and our Australian WordPress hosting adds 24/7 monitoring and SSL.
No one can promise a site will never be attacked, but current software and recent backups mean a problem is found early and fixed from a clean copy.
You're near the other end of Queensland. Does the distance slow the project down?
No. Cairns and Wurtulla share Queensland time all year, so calls and online meetings are easy to book, and a single contact on our team stays with your project from the first conversation to launch. We have no Cairns office; you see each draft on a shared screen and show us the changes you want.
Use our contact page to set a time, and look at finished sites in the portfolio before we talk.
