Make a shopping website from a solid product list.

The smoothest store builds start with a clean product list: one row per product, with prices, weights, stock and photos in order. DIGITALON, at Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast, builds WooCommerce stores across Australia and shows you exactly what that list needs.

Every store is built from a list.

Behind every product page is a row of data: a name, a code, a price, a weight, a stock count, a category and the photos that belong to it. When that list is complete and consistent, a shopping website can be imported quickly and filtered, searched and shipped correctly from the first day. When it is not, the gaps show up as wrong postage, broken filters and missing photos.

You can make that list before anyone builds anything, usually from a spreadsheet you or your supplier already have. This page sets out the columns that matter, how photos should be named and how a trial import catches problems early. Writing the descriptions is covered in creating an online shop website, and editing products after launch in running your online store.

How to make the product list.

Six steps that turn a spreadsheet into a shopping website that works properly from launch.

Start from what you already have

A supplier price file, a point-of-sale export or an existing store's product export is usually the best starting point. Copy it into one spreadsheet, keep the original untouched, and remove discontinued lines before you add anything new.

One row per product or variation

A T-shirt in three sizes and two colours is one parent product with six variations, each with its own SKU, price and stock. Give every product and variation a unique SKU: it is how the store, your supplier and your stock counts recognise each item.

Prices including GST, consistently

Enter every price the same way, including GST, and mark any GST-free lines so their tax setting can be applied. A list where some prices include GST and others do not produces wrong totals at checkout, and fixing it after import takes longer than fixing the spreadsheet.

Weights and sizes for postage

Shipping rules and carrier rates are calculated from each product's weight and, for bulky items, its dimensions. Weigh items in their packaging and record kilograms and centimetres in their own columns; a missing weight is the quickest way to postage that comes out wrong.

Photos named to match

Name each photo after the product's SKU, such as TSHIRT-RED-M-1.jpg, and keep them in one folder. Consistently shaped photos at a good size keep category pages tidy, and the names make sure every photo lands on the right product.

A trial import before the full range

Import ten varied products first through WooCommerce's CSV importer, including ones with variations and odd sizes. Check their pages, filters and postage, fix the spreadsheet, then import the rest. Preparing and loading a large range for you is quoted to scope.

Packages for the store your list becomes.

The page counts are website pages, not a product limit: your list can be as long as the store needs. Standard adds product filters and categories built from your attributes.

Hosting, your domain, your payment provider’s transaction fees and ongoing maintenance are separate. The page counts are website pages, not a product limit: catalogue size, product imports, migrations and custom integrations are agreed and quoted before work starts. Compare every inclusion and the optional features on eCommerce pricing, or see website design packages if you do not need a shop.

Your store, your hosting, your login.

Every DIGITALON store is a custom WordPress and WooCommerce build. WooCommerce is free and open source, takes no commission on your sales and runs on hosting you choose, with the administrator login yours from day one.

The shop and the pages that bring shoppers to it live in one WordPress site, edited the same way. You can run it yourself, or hand the updates to the team that built it.

01

No platform commission

Your payment provider charges its transaction fee. WooCommerce itself takes no percentage of your sales and has no monthly platform fee.

02

Hosting you choose

Keep your own host, or use our managed WordPress hosting, sized for the catalogue and the traffic you expect.

03

Care after launch

Our maintenance packages cover plugin and WooCommerce updates, backups, security checks and support.

04

One Australian team

The people who scope, design and build the store are the people who answer your questions, from Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast.

From brief to first order.

A basic store usually takes two to three weeks. Extra features and integrations add time, and we tell you how much before we begin.

Step 01

Scope and price

We agree the pages, catalogue, features and search work, then confirm the package, any extras and the payment stages in writing.

Step 02

Design

You see the design and sign it off before the build starts, while changing a layout is still quick.

Step 03

Build and test

Products, payments, shipping and tax are set up in WooCommerce, then tested with real orders on a phone and a desktop.

Step 04

Launch and hand over

We go live and hand over your administrator login. Standard and Premium include one-to-one training on your own store.

Online stores we have built.

These are stores and online sales sites our team designed and built. They show completed work, not a promise of the same result for every business.

I was very impressed as they were very responsive and helpful as I was a newbie. Good communication with Sabrina who took the time to explain all the process and gave some tips.

Questions about making a shopping website.

Product lists, supplier files, photos, who loads what, postage, timing, cost, GST, search and moving from another platform.

Ask us about your store
What do the packages cost for a store built from our own list?

$4,990 for Basic, $5,990 for Standard or $7,990 for Premium, as a one-off build price. Each includes the design, the WooCommerce build, licences and security set-up. Who loads the products is agreed before we quote, and a large or complex import is quoted to scope. Every inclusion is on our eCommerce pricing page.

Should the prices in our product list include GST?

Yes. Enter them including GST, the way Australian shoppers expect to see them, and mark any GST-free lines. Our build prices work the same way: $4,990, $5,990 and $7,990 already include GST, with hosting, your domain and payment provider fees separate.

What columns does the product spreadsheet need?

At least a name, SKU, regular price, stock quantity, category, weight and descriptions, plus a column for each attribute such as size or colour. Variable products need a parent row and one row per variation. WooCommerce's own product export makes a good template: export one sample product and copy its columns.

Is a supplier's price file ready to import as it stands?

Rarely. Supplier files usually carry trade prices without GST, the supplier's own codes, missing weights and descriptions written for resellers. They are a strong starting point, but the columns need mapping, the prices converting to your retail prices including GST, and the gaps filling before the import.

Who loads the products into the store?

That is agreed before we quote. You can load products yourself after the one-to-one training included from Standard, supply the list for us to import, or have us prepare and import a large range as quoted work. After launch you own the store and its login, and our maintenance packages can handle updates.

How many products can a new store launch with?

As many as your list is ready for. The 6, 10 and 20 figures in the packages are website pages, not a product limit, so a store can open with fifty products or several thousand. Launching with complete, accurate products and adding more later works better than launching everything with gaps.

How do product weights affect the shipping price at checkout?

Weights and sizes decide what shipping a customer is charged. Every package has flat-rate or free shipping and takes cards and PayPal; Standard adds rules by weight, location and cart value, and Premium adds a shipping cost calculator and order tracking. Live Australia Post, Sendle or courier rates are a quoted add-on that relies on accurate weights and dimensions.

How long after the list is ready can the store open?

A basic store usually takes two to three weeks. A complete product list and photos at the start help keep it there; a list still being written, or a large import, sets the schedule instead. We agree the timing with the scope and price before work starts.

Does a tidy product list help the store show up in search?

It helps search engines and AI tools read the store, because consistent names, categories and attributes become clear product pages. No one can promise a Google position or an AI citation. Standard adds keyword and category research with on-page SEO, Premium adds GEO, and ongoing SEO runs through our SEO packages.

We sell on another platform already. Can our products move across?

Usually. Shopify, Wix, Squarespace and most store systems can export products to a spreadsheet, which becomes your list once the columns are mapped. A full move with customers, orders and ranking addresses kept or redirected is assessed and quoted separately, with the old store trading until the new one is tested.

Start with your product list.

Tell us where your product data lives now, even if the spreadsheet is messy. Our team at Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast will tell you what is missing, recommend a package and quote the build, including any import work, before anything starts. Reviews and training all happen online.
