WooCommerce price: free core, paid extras.

WooCommerce itself costs nothing to download or use; the costs come from extensions some stores need, from hosting and from having the store built. DIGITALON builds WooCommerce stores on the Sunshine Coast and prices the build once, with the licences it needs.

What the free core already covers.

The WooCommerce plugin is free and open source: no licence fee, no monthly platform charge and no commission on sales. The free core also does more than many people expect. It handles products with variations, stock, coupons, tax, shipping zones, orders, refunds, customer emails, sales reports and product imports, which covers the everyday running of a straightforward store without a single paid extension.

Prices start where a store needs something core does not do: subscriptions, bookings, memberships, product add-ons or a connection to another system. Those are usually paid extensions with a yearly renewal for updates and support. We build on WooCommerce, include the licences your package needs in its one-off price, and tell you before adding anything that renews.

What WooCommerce costs, piece by piece.

The software, the extensions and the build are priced differently. Here is where each cost comes from.

The WooCommerce plugin: free

WooCommerce is a free, open-source plugin for WordPress, which is also free. There is no licence fee, no monthly platform charge and no percentage taken from your sales; the payment provider's fee is the only deduction from each order.

Payment plugins: free to install

The official Stripe and PayPal plugins for WooCommerce cost nothing to install. The providers charge their own transaction fees on each payment, set out on their published rates, and WooCommerce adds nothing on top.

What core already includes

Variable products, stock tracking and alerts, scheduled sale prices, coupons, GST-inclusive prices, shipping zones and classes, local pickup, guest checkout, order emails, gateway refunds, sales reports and the CSV product importer all come with the free plugin.

Paid extensions and yearly renewals

Subscriptions, bookings, memberships, product add-ons, deposits and many carrier connections are paid extensions, usually renewed yearly for updates and support. If a renewal lapses, the extension generally keeps working but stops receiving updates, which matters for security.

Themes and design

A store needs a theme, and some are sold with their own licences. Every DIGITALON store is custom designed instead, so you are not buying a template, and the design is part of the one-off build price.

The build, priced once

Hosting, a domain and the build itself turn the free software into a working store. Our packages price the build once, at $4,990, $5,990 or $7,990 including GST, with every licence the package needs; hosting and your domain are paid separately.

Hosting, your domain, your payment provider’s transaction fees and ongoing maintenance are separate. The page counts are website pages, not a product limit: catalogue size, product imports, migrations and custom integrations are agreed and quoted before work starts. Compare every inclusion and the optional features on eCommerce pricing, or see website design packages if you do not need a shop.

Your store, your hosting, your login.

Every DIGITALON store is a custom WordPress and WooCommerce build. WooCommerce is free and open source, takes no commission on your sales and runs on hosting you choose, with the administrator login yours from day one.

The shop and the pages that bring shoppers to it live in one WordPress site, edited the same way. You can run it yourself, or hand the updates to the team that built it.

01

No platform commission

Your payment provider charges its transaction fee. WooCommerce itself takes no percentage of your sales and has no monthly platform fee.

02

Hosting you choose

Keep your own host, or use our managed WordPress hosting, sized for the catalogue and the traffic you expect.

03

Care after launch

Our maintenance packages cover plugin and WooCommerce updates, backups, security checks and support.

04

One Australian team

The people who scope, design and build the store are the people who answer your questions, from Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast.

From brief to first order.

A basic store usually takes two to three weeks. Extra features and integrations add time, and we tell you how much before we begin.

Step 01

Scope and price

We agree the pages, catalogue, features and search work, then confirm the package, any extras and the payment stages in writing.

Step 02

Design

You see the design and sign it off before the build starts, while changing a layout is still quick.

Step 03

Build and test

Products, payments, shipping and tax are set up in WooCommerce, then tested with real orders on a phone and a desktop.

Step 04

Launch and hand over

We go live and hand over your administrator login. Standard and Premium include one-to-one training on your own store.

Online stores we have built.

These are stores and online sales sites our team designed and built. They show completed work, not a promise of the same result for every business.

I was very impressed as they were very responsive and helpful as I was a newbie. Good communication with Sabrina who took the time to explain all the process and gave some tips.

Questions about the price of WooCommerce.

Build prices, GST, monthly fees, payment plugins, the free core, extensions, themes, timing, search and updates.

Ask us about your store
How much does a WooCommerce store cost to have built?

With us, $4,990 for Basic, $5,990 for Standard or $7,990 for Premium, each a one-off price for 6, 10 or 20 website pages with the licences the package needs. Large imports, migrations and custom integrations are quoted on top. Compare every inclusion on eCommerce pricing.

Do your WooCommerce prices carry GST on top?

No, GST is already inside them: $4,990, $5,990 and $7,990 are the full one-off prices. Hosting plans are monthly prices that also include GST, while your payment provider's fees and any extension renewals are charged by those providers.

Does WooCommerce charge a monthly fee?

No. WooCommerce has no monthly platform fee and takes no commission on your sales. The monthly costs of a WooCommerce store are hosting and, if you choose it, maintenance; the yearly costs are your domain and any paid extensions you add later.

Do the Stripe and PayPal plugins cost anything?

Not to install: the official plugins for WooCommerce are free, and every package connects them to your own accounts. Stripe and PayPal charge their own fees on each payment, set out on their published rates, and WooCommerce adds nothing on top. Premium adds Apple Pay, Google Pay and Afterpay.

Can a store run on the free WooCommerce core alone?

Yes, if it sells in the ways core supports. Core handles variable products, stock, coupons, GST, shipping zones, local pickup, orders, refunds and reports. A store needs paid extensions when it sells subscriptions, bookings or memberships, adds product options with their own prices, or connects to carriers and other systems.

How are paid WooCommerce extensions priced?

Usually as a yearly subscription that pays for updates and support, set by the extension's maker; some are one-off purchases. We name any extension a feature needs in your quote, with its renewal cost, before adding it, and the licences your package needs are already in its price.

Do we need to buy a WooCommerce theme?

No. A store needs a theme, but every DIGITALON store is custom designed on WordPress, so you are not buying a template; the design is part of the one-off build price. The finished design is yours to edit, with the administrator login.

Does paying for extensions change the build time?

Only when a feature needs setting up beyond core. A basic store usually takes two to three weeks; each paid extension adds configuration and testing time, and custom integrations take longer, all stated in the quote before work starts.

Is search optimisation part of the WooCommerce price?

From Standard, yes: keyword and category research and on-page SEO are in the $5,990 package, and Premium adds AI search optimisation (GEO). Ongoing SEO after launch is a separate service in our SEO packages, and no one can promise a position.

What does it cost to keep WooCommerce updated?

Your time, or a maintenance plan. WordPress, WooCommerce and extension updates are free to install, but on a store each round should be checked with a test order afterwards. Our maintenance packages handle that, with eCommerce site updates in the Advanced and Premium levels.
