Starting an online clothing store? Choose your source first.

Stocking other labels, making your own, printing on demand and selling pre-loved pieces each need a different store behind them. DIGITALON builds WooCommerce clothing stores on the Sunshine Coast, set up for the way your stock arrives.

Four ways to fill the racks.

Clothing stores differ less in their design than in where the clothes come from. A boutique stocking other labels works from wholesale orders and the brands' own photos and conditions; an own label plans small production runs; a print-on-demand store never holds stock at all; a pre-loved or vintage store sells pieces that exist only once. Each changes how products, photos, stock and returns are set up.

We build clothing stores on WordPress and WooCommerce and set the catalogue up for your source: size and colour variations for stocked and own-label ranges, single items for pre-loved pieces, and a quoted connection for print on demand. Fit matters in every case; size charts and launching collections are covered in our fashion store guide.

How each clothing source changes the store.

Most stores start with one source and add another later. These are the differences to plan for.

Stocking other labels

Wholesale accounts come with each brand's own conditions, which can cover selling online, pricing and the photos you may use. Size charts and care details come from the label, and each new season arrives as supplier data that WooCommerce's CSV importer can load.

Your own label

An own label controls the design, the photos and the story, but carries the stock risk. Small runs suit size and colour variations with their own stock counts; made-to-order pieces suit a stated lead time and backorders, so shoppers know when to expect them.

Print on demand

A print-on-demand partner prints each garment after it is ordered and ships it to your customer. The store needs that partner's connection, which we scope and quote, mock-up images of each design, and delivery times and returns terms that match what the partner offers.

Pre-loved and vintage

Every piece is one of a kind, so each is a single product with a stock count of one that leaves the shop when sold. Measurements in centimetres matter more than size labels, condition notes should be specific, and photos need to show any wear.

Mixing sources in one store

A store can combine sources, such as own-label basics beside stocked brands. Categories and filters by brand, size and colour keep the range easy to browse, shipping classes cover different postage, and returns terms can differ by source if each product page says which apply.

Hosting, your domain, your payment provider’s transaction fees and ongoing maintenance are separate. The page counts are website pages, not a product limit: catalogue size, product imports, migrations and custom integrations are agreed and quoted before work starts. Compare every inclusion and the optional features on eCommerce pricing, or see website design packages if you do not need a shop.

Your store, your hosting, your login.

Every DIGITALON store is a custom WordPress and WooCommerce build. WooCommerce is free and open source, takes no commission on your sales and runs on hosting you choose, with the administrator login yours from day one.

The shop and the pages that bring shoppers to it live in one WordPress site, edited the same way. You can run it yourself, or hand the updates to the team that built it.

01

No platform commission

Your payment provider charges its transaction fee. WooCommerce itself takes no percentage of your sales and has no monthly platform fee.

02

Hosting you choose

Keep your own host, or use our managed WordPress hosting, sized for the catalogue and the traffic you expect.

03

Care after launch

Our maintenance packages cover plugin and WooCommerce updates, backups, security checks and support.

04

One Australian team

The people who scope, design and build the store are the people who answer your questions, from Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast.

From brief to first order.

A basic store usually takes two to three weeks. Extra features and integrations add time, and we tell you how much before we begin.

Step 01

Scope and price

We agree the pages, catalogue, features and search work, then confirm the package, any extras and the payment stages in writing.

Step 02

Design

You see the design and sign it off before the build starts, while changing a layout is still quick.

Step 03

Build and test

Products, payments, shipping and tax are set up in WooCommerce, then tested with real orders on a phone and a desktop.

Step 04

Launch and hand over

We go live and hand over your administrator login. Standard and Premium include one-to-one training on your own store.

Online stores we have built.

These are stores and online sales sites our team designed and built. They show completed work, not a promise of the same result for every business.

I was very impressed as they were very responsive and helpful as I was a newbie. Good communication with Sabrina who took the time to explain all the process and gave some tips.

Questions about sourcing for a clothing store.

Packages, GST, brand photos, pre-loved pieces, print on demand, own-label stock, returns, timing, search and upkeep.

Ask us about your store
Does a multi-label boutique need Standard or Premium?

Standard, in most cases: it adds product filters and categories, so shoppers can narrow the range by brand, size and colour, plus customer accounts, a wish list and SEO. Basic suits a small single-label range; Premium adds live product search, Afterpay, Apple Pay and Google Pay. See eCommerce pricing.

Are your quoted prices for a clothing store GST-inclusive?

Yes. Basic is $4,990, Standard $5,990 and Premium $7,990, each a one-off price including GST. Postage, payment provider fees, hosting and any print-on-demand or supplier connection sit outside the build price, and we list them in the quote.

Can we use the brands' own product photos?

Often, if the brand allows it: check each wholesale agreement, because some labels supply images for online use and others set conditions. Brand photos keep the range consistent, while your own shots of the pieces, worn or styled, set your store apart from others carrying the same label.

Can a pre-loved piece disappear from the store once it sells?

Yes. Each piece is a single product with a stock count of one, so it shows as out of stock the moment it is bought, or WooCommerce can hide sold items from the shop automatically. Keeping a few sold pieces visible shows shoppers the kind of stock you find.

How does print on demand work with WooCommerce?

Through the print partner's own extension or a quoted connection: each paid order passes to the partner, who prints, packs and ships the garment, and the tracking number comes back to the order. We set up the products, mock-ups and delivery times to match the partner you choose.

Should own-label pieces be made in advance or to order?

That is a business decision, but the store supports both. Pieces made in advance are variations with real stock counts; made-to-order pieces can take orders as backorders, with the lead time on the product page and in the order email. Mixing the two works, as long as each page is clear.

How should returns work for pre-loved and made-to-order pieces?

Set your own terms for change-of-mind returns and state them plainly before checkout; faulty items are a separate matter that comes with selling. Because one-off and made-to-order pieces are hard to resell, precise measurements, specific condition notes and photos that show any wear help avoid returns.

When could a clothing store be ready to open?

A basic store usually takes about two to three weeks once products, photos and details are ready. Wholesale ranges with supplier data can be imported quickly; a large import, a migration or a print-on-demand connection is quoted and scheduled before work starts.

Can a small clothing store compete in search with big retailers?

Not head-on for broad terms like online clothing store, but it can be found for what makes the range different: a label, a style, a fabric or pre-loved pieces from a certain era. Keyword and category research with on-page SEO comes with Standard and GEO with Premium; no position can be promised.

Who looks after the store as the stock changes each season?

You can add products, photos and prices yourself with the administrator login, which is yours, and Standard and Premium include one-to-one training. Our maintenance packages handle updates, backups and security, with eCommerce site updates in the Advanced and Premium levels, if you would rather hand that over.

Start with where the clothes come from.

Tell us where your clothing will come from, how many pieces you plan to start with and how you want to handle returns. Our team at Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast will recommend a package, scope any supplier or print connection and give you a written quote.
