eCommerce designers who also build the store.
A good eCommerce designer plans product pages, categories and checkout around how people buy, then sees the design through the build. At DIGITALON the same in-house team designs and builds your WooCommerce store, at a fixed price agreed before work starts.
Store design is more than looks.
An eCommerce designer is not just a web designer who adds a cart. A store's design has to show many products clearly, help shoppers narrow a range, answer buying questions on the product page and keep checkout short on a phone. When the designer hands a mock-up to a separate developer, details like filters, variations and delivery costs are where the design and the build can part ways.
Our designers and developers work in the same in-house team at Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast, so the design you sign off is the store that gets built. We design with your real products and your existing logo and colours, show you the pages at phone and desktop width, and build only after you approve them.
A store that sells, not a mock-up.
The design only matters once it works in the real store.
- Product pages that answer questions
- Layouts made for phones
- A design that survives the build

How to choose an eCommerce designer.
Use these checks on any designer you are considering, including us.
Look at live stores, not screenshots
Ask for stores that are trading now and try them on your phone: find a product, choose an option and go to checkout. Our portfolio shows real client stores, still trading, that you can judge the same way.
Check what you see before the build
A designer should show the home, category and product pages at phone and desktop width, with your products in them, and wait for your sign-off. Changing a layout then is quick; changing it after the build is not.
Ask who builds the design
If the designer hands a mock-up to someone else to build, ask who owns the gaps: filters, variations, delivery costs and checkout behaviour. One team designing and building removes that hand-over.
Confirm who owns the result
You should hold the administrator login, the domain and the hosting account, or a clear right to move them, and own the finished store, design included. Be wary of a store you can only rent from its designer.
Get the price and extras in writing
A clear quote lists the pages, features, payment stages and anything charged separately, such as product imports or integrations. Our eCommerce packages are fixed one-off prices, with extras quoted before work starts.
Be wary of promised results
A designer can make a store clear, fast and easy to buy from, but no one can promise sales figures or a Google ranking. Treat a promise of either as a warning sign rather than a selling point.

Every package includes custom design and the WooCommerce build by the same team, as one fixed, one-off price.

Hosting, your domain, your payment provider’s transaction fees and ongoing maintenance are separate. The page counts are website pages, not a product limit: catalogue size, product imports, migrations and custom integrations are agreed and quoted before work starts. Compare every inclusion and the optional features on eCommerce pricing, or see website design packages if you do not need a shop.
Your store, your hosting, your login.
Every DIGITALON store is a custom WordPress and WooCommerce build. WooCommerce is free and open source, takes no commission on your sales and runs on hosting you choose, with the administrator login yours from day one.
The shop and the pages that bring shoppers to it live in one WordPress site, edited the same way. You can run it yourself, or hand the updates to the team that built it.
No platform commission
Your payment provider charges its transaction fee. WooCommerce itself takes no percentage of your sales and has no monthly platform fee.
Hosting you choose
Keep your own host, or use our managed WordPress hosting, sized for the catalogue and the traffic you expect.
Care after launch
Our maintenance packages cover plugin and WooCommerce updates, backups, security checks and support.
One Australian team
The people who scope, design and build the store are the people who answer your questions, from Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast.
From brief to first order.
A basic store usually takes two to three weeks. Extra features and integrations add time, and we tell you how much before we begin.
Scope and price
We agree the pages, catalogue, features and search work, then confirm the package, any extras and the payment stages in writing.
Design
You see the design and sign it off before the build starts, while changing a layout is still quick.
Build and test
Products, payments, shipping and tax are set up in WooCommerce, then tested with real orders on a phone and a desktop.
Launch and hand over
We go live and hand over your administrator login. Standard and Premium include one-to-one training on your own store.

I was very impressed as they were very responsive and helpful as I was a newbie. Good communication with Sabrina who took the time to explain all the process and gave some tips.
eCommerce designer questions.
Cost, process, platforms, ownership, timing and support.
Ask us about your store ↗How much does an eCommerce designer cost with DIGITALON?
Design and build come together in one one-off price: $4,990 for Basic (6 pages), $5,990 for Standard (10 pages) or $7,990 for Premium (20 pages). Product imports, migrations and custom features outside the package are quoted before work starts.
Compare the packages on our eCommerce pricing page.
Is GST included in your design and build prices?
Yes. All three prices are in Australian dollars and include GST, itemised on your invoice. Hosting, your domain and payment provider fees are separate.
Do you design the store as well as build it?
Yes, both. The same in-house team designs the store around your products and builds it on WooCommerce, so nothing is lost between a mock-up and the finished store. You approve the design before the build starts.
What should we ask an eCommerce designer before hiring one?
Which live stores they have designed and whether you can try them, who builds the design, what you will see before the build, who owns the finished store, and what the price includes. Clear answers to all five are a good sign, whoever you choose.
How can we tell if a store design came from a bought template?
Template stores often share layouts you can spot across other shops, and they may not fit an unusual range well. Ask to see the design with your own products in it before the build; a custom design is made for them, which is how every DIGITALON store is designed.
Do you design stores on Shopify or other platforms?
No. We design and build on WordPress and WooCommerce only, because it leaves you owning the store with no platform commission. If you are set on a hosted platform, a designer who specialises in it will serve you better; our guide to the ways to build an online shop compares the routes.
Will we be locked in to you after launch?
No. You own the store and hold the administrator login, it runs on hosting you choose, and WooCommerce is open source, so any WordPress developer can work on it. Ongoing maintenance with us is optional.
Does a bigger package mean more design work?
More pages to design and more features designed in, with the same care. Basic has six pages; Standard has ten, with product filters, customer accounts and SEO; Premium has twenty, with a mega menu, live search, product compare and AI search optimisation (GEO). The design stage covers whatever your package includes.
How long does the design stage take?
It is part of the overall schedule: a basic store usually takes two to three weeks from start to launch. Gathering everyone's comments into one reply keeps the design stage short, and we agree the full schedule with the price.
Who supports the store after the designer is finished?
The same team. You keep the administrator login and can edit products and content yourself, with one-to-one training in Standard and Premium, and our maintenance packages and managed WordPress hosting cover updates, backups and security if you prefer.
Let's talk about your store design.
Send us your range, your existing logo and colours, and a store or two whose design you like. Our in-house designers and developers at Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast will recommend a package and confirm the price in writing before the design starts.
