eCommerce web designer for the awkward moments too.
Shoppers meet sold-out sizes, empty searches, declined cards and shipping that will not reach their postcode. At DIGITALON we design those moments as carefully as the product page, so each one offers a way forward instead of a dead end.
Mock-ups show stores at their best.
A design mock-up usually shows a store on a perfect day: every product in stock, a full cart, a payment that goes through. Real shoppers meet the other days. A size sells out, a search finds nothing, a card is declined, a coupon has expired. If nobody designed those moments, WooCommerce shows its plain default messages, and a shopper who hits one may simply leave.
An eCommerce web designer's job includes those states. For each one we decide what the shopper sees and what they can do next: choose another size, try a different search, return to the shop or contact you. The confirmation page, the order emails and, from Standard, the account pages get the same care, because the store keeps talking to customers after they pay.
The store on a perfect day.
Everything in stock and every payment approved.
- A full product page
- A cart ready to pay
- A tidy confirmation
STORE
The store on a normal day.
The moments a designer has to plan.
- Sizes that sell out
- Searches with no results
- Cards that are declined
The store states a designer must plan.
Each state below turns up in every WooCommerce store. Designed well, it keeps a shopper moving; left to the defaults, it can end the visit.
On sale, and when the sale ends
A sale price needs the old price shown clearly beside it, and WooCommerce can start and end a sale on set dates. The design should still look right the morning after, when the sale price disappears without anyone touching the page.
Low stock, sold out and backorders
Decide whether shoppers see how many are left, what a sold-out product says, and whether it can still be ordered on backorder with a clear note about timing. Sold-out products can stay findable rather than vanishing from the range.
Options that cannot be chosen
When a size or colour is sold out, the choice should be marked as unavailable rather than letting the shopper pick it and then refusing it. The message for an impossible combination should say which option to change.
Searches and filters with no results
A search that finds nothing should show popular categories, a way to search again and a way to ask for help, and a filter combination that empties the page should make it easy to undo the last filter rather than start again.
Checkout problems, explained
A postcode the store cannot ship to, a declined card or an expired coupon each needs a message that says what happened and what to do next, placed beside the field that caused it, without clearing what the shopper has already typed.
After payment: emails and accounts
The confirmation page, the order emails and, from Standard, the customer account pages are part of the design: your logo and colours, the order summary first, and what happens next written plainly, so customers trust the store after they pay.
Design packages that cover every state.
Each package includes the custom design of the store's pages and of the states its features bring: accounts and coupons from Standard, live search and order tracking with Premium.

- Your CRM integrated
Hosting, your domain, your payment provider’s transaction fees and ongoing maintenance are separate. The page counts are website pages, not a product limit: catalogue size, product imports, migrations and custom integrations are agreed and quoted before work starts. Compare every inclusion and the optional features on eCommerce pricing, or see website design packages if you do not need a shop.
Your store, your hosting, your login.
Every DIGITALON store is a custom WordPress and WooCommerce build. WooCommerce is free and open source, takes no commission on your sales and runs on hosting you choose, with the administrator login yours from day one.
The shop and the pages that bring shoppers to it live in one WordPress site, edited the same way. You can run it yourself, or hand the updates to the team that built it.
No platform commission
Your payment provider charges its transaction fee. WooCommerce itself takes no percentage of your sales and has no monthly platform fee.
Hosting you choose
Keep your own host, or use our managed WordPress hosting, sized for the catalogue and the traffic you expect.
Care after launch
Our maintenance packages cover plugin and WooCommerce updates, backups, security checks and support.
One Australian team
The people who scope, design and build the store are the people who answer your questions, from Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast.
From brief to first order.
A basic store usually takes two to three weeks. Extra features and integrations add time, and we tell you how much before we begin.
Scope and price
We agree the pages, catalogue, features and search work, then confirm the package, any extras and the payment stages in writing.
Design
You see the design and sign it off before the build starts, while changing a layout is still quick.
Build and test
Products, payments, shipping and tax are set up in WooCommerce, then tested with real orders on a phone and a desktop.
Launch and hand over
We go live and hand over your administrator login. Standard and Premium include one-to-one training on your own store.

eCommerce web designer questions.
Cost, GST, sold-out products, checkout messages, emails and upkeep.
Ask us about your store ↗Are the store's states priced as extra design work?
No. Designing the states that come with your package's features is part of the one-off price: $4,990 for Basic, $5,990 for Standard or $7,990 for Premium. Custom features outside a package, and the states they bring, are quoted before work starts.
Compare the packages on eCommerce pricing.
Do the order emails and invoices show GST correctly?
Yes. Prices are entered with GST included, and the order emails and, from Standard, the PDF invoices show the GST once, in a layout that matches your store. Our own package prices include GST too: Basic $4,990, Standard $5,990 and Premium $7,990.
Can sold-out products stay visible in the store?
Yes. WooCommerce can keep sold-out products listed and searchable, marked as out of stock, or hide them from the catalogue; you choose for your store. Keeping them visible protects pages people already find, and backorders can take orders for items you will restock.
Can shoppers be told when a sold-out item is back?
Not as part of a package: back-in-stock emails need an extension, which we can quote and add. Without one, a clear sold-out note with an expected restock date, or a link to contact you, does the same job by hand.
What does a shopper see if we cannot ship to their postcode?
A message at checkout, before payment, saying the store cannot deliver to that address, which we word for your store and pair with a way to contact you. Your shipping zones decide which postcodes are covered, so an order you cannot deliver is not taken by mistake.
Do you design the order emails as well?
Yes. WooCommerce sends the order emails automatically; we style them with your logo and colours and check the wording fits your store, from the order confirmation through to the completed and refunded notices.
Will these states work on a phone?
Yes. Each one is designed and tested at phone and desktop width, since many of these moments happen on a small screen: a size chosen on the bus, a postcode typed at checkout, a card declined in a queue.
Is Standard enough for a range with many variations?
Usually: its product filters and customer accounts suit a range with many variations, and their states, from unavailable options to account pages, are designed in. Premium adds live search and product compare for larger ranges.
When in the project are these states designed?
Alongside the main pages, before the build, and they are checked again with test orders before launch. A basic store usually takes two to three weeks from start to launch, and we agree the timing with the price.
Can we change the wording of these messages ourselves?
Much of it. Stock notes, product details and email text can be edited in WooCommerce from the administrator login you hold, with one-to-one training in Standard and Premium. Layout or checkout changes are safer with us, through our maintenance packages or a quote.
Let's design the whole store.
Tell us what you sell and how your stock changes through the year. We will explain how your store will handle sales, sold-out sizes and checkout problems as well as its best sellers, and confirm the package and the price in writing first, from our team at Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast.
