eCommerce site builder? Know what's in the bundle.
A site builder sells software, hosting, a template, checkout, apps and support as one monthly plan. DIGITALON builds the same pieces separately on WordPress and WooCommerce, so each one is chosen for your store and the finished store is yours.
A builder plan bundles six things.
Sign up to an eCommerce site builder such as Shopify, Wix or Squarespace and the monthly plan covers the software that runs the shop, the servers it runs on, a set of templates, the checkout, a marketplace of apps for extra features and the platform's help desk. That convenience is real: one login, one bill and nothing to install. It also means each piece is chosen by the platform, on the platform's timetable.
A WooCommerce store has the same six pieces, chosen one at a time. WordPress and WooCommerce are the free software, hosting is a plan you pick, the design is drawn for your range, Stripe and PayPal take the payments, extensions add only the features you need, and support comes from whoever looks after the store. DIGITALON puts all six together in one build, then hands you the administrator login.
One place to run the shop.
Ease is the reason people reach for a builder.
- One login for everything
- Changes without code
- Someone to ask for help
STORE
Pieces you can change later.
Each part chosen for the store, not for the platform.
- Hosting you choose
- Features added one by one
- A store that is yours
The six pieces, and who looks after them.
Every online store needs the same six pieces. Here is how a site builder handles each one, and how a WooCommerce build does.
The software that runs the shop
On a builder it is the platform's own code, updated for you on its schedule. On WooCommerce it is WordPress and the free WooCommerce plugin, updated when you or your developer choose, after a backup and a check that the store still works.
Hosting: the servers it runs on
A builder includes hosting in the plan, and the store cannot leave it. WooCommerce runs on hosting you choose: keep your own host or use our managed WordPress hosting, sized to your catalogue and the traffic you expect.
The design: template or drawn for you
Builders start from a template that other shops also use, then let you change colours and fonts. A DIGITALON store is designed for your range and your customers, and you sign off the design before the build starts.
Checkout, payments and fees per sale
Shopify adds its own transaction fee unless you use its payment system. WooCommerce takes no commission: Stripe and PayPal are set up in every package, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Afterpay come with Premium, and only the provider's fee applies.
Extra features: apps or extensions
Builders add features through apps, many of them paid monthly. In a WooCommerce build, the features in your package are set up with every licence included; anything beyond the package is added as an extension or custom work, quoted first.
Support: a help desk or a team
A builder's help desk explains the platform; how your own shop is set up is yours to work out. After a DIGITALON build you can run the store yourself, or hand updates, backups and security checks to our maintenance packages.
The whole store, as one-off packages.

Compare every inclusion and the optional features on eCommerce pricing, or see website design packages if you do not need a shop.
Your store, your hosting, your login.
Every DIGITALON store is a custom WordPress and WooCommerce build. WooCommerce is free and open source, takes no commission on your sales and runs on hosting you choose, with the administrator login yours from day one.
The shop and the pages that bring shoppers to it live in one WordPress site, edited the same way. You can run it yourself, or hand the updates to the team that built it.
No platform commission
Your payment provider charges its transaction fee. WooCommerce itself takes no percentage of your sales and has no monthly platform fee.
Hosting you choose
Keep your own host, or use our managed WordPress hosting, sized for the catalogue and the traffic you expect.
Care after launch
Our maintenance packages cover plugin and WooCommerce updates, backups, security checks and support.
One Australian team
The people who scope, design and build the store are the people who answer your questions, from Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast.
From brief to first order.
A basic store usually takes two to three weeks. Extra features and integrations add time, and we tell you how much before we begin.
Scope and price
We agree the pages, catalogue, features and search work, then confirm the package, any extras and the payment stages in writing.
Design
You see the design and sign it off before the build starts, while changing a layout is still quick.
Build and test
Products, payments, shipping and tax are set up in WooCommerce, then tested with real orders on a phone and a desktop.
Launch and hand over
We go live and hand over your administrator login. Standard and Premium include one-to-one training on your own store.

I was very impressed as they were very responsive and helpful as I was a newbie. Good communication with Sabrina who took the time to explain all the process and gave some tips.
eCommerce site builder questions.
Cost, the six pieces, features, hosting, search, timing and support.
Ask us about your store ↗Is DIGITALON an eCommerce site builder?
No. We are the team that builds your store, not a builder you subscribe to. We design and build it on WordPress and WooCommerce for a one-off price, Basic $4,990, Standard $5,990 or Premium $7,990, and hand you the administrator login, with no monthly platform fee.
What does each piece cost in a WooCommerce store?
The software is free: WordPress and WooCommerce cost nothing to use. The design, the set-up and your package's features are in the one-off build price, with every licence they need. Hosting and your domain are paid separately, your payment provider charges a fee on each sale, and maintenance is optional.
Large product imports, migrations and custom integrations are quoted before work starts. Compare every inclusion on eCommerce pricing.
Is GST included, and which pieces are billed separately?
GST is included in all three build prices, which are in Australian dollars. Hosting, your domain, your payment provider's fees and any maintenance plan are billed separately by whoever provides them, so none of them is hidden inside the package price.
Does every package cover all six pieces?
Four of them in every package: the software set-up, the design, card and PayPal payments, and the features listed for that package. Standard and Premium add one-to-one training on your own store. Hosting and ongoing support are your choice: your own host or ours, and a maintenance package if you want one.
Which features are part of the build rather than added later?
Everything listed for your package, with its licences in the price. Standard adds SEO, customer accounts, product filters, a wish list, coupons, PDF invoices and packing slips and advanced shipping rules to Basic. Premium adds AI search optimisation (GEO), a mega menu, live search, product compare, order tracking, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Afterpay.
Can we move the store to another host later?
Yes. A WooCommerce store is a WordPress site, so it can be copied to another host with its products, customers and orders and switched over once it has been checked. On a builder the store stays on the platform's servers; with WooCommerce the choice of host stays yours.
Is search optimisation one of the pieces?
From Standard, yes. Keyword and category research, page titles, descriptions and structured product data are set up in the build, and Premium adds AI search optimisation (GEO). Work after launch is a separate SEO service, and no one can promise a Google position or an AI citation.
How long does it take to put the pieces together?
A basic store usually takes two to three weeks. Extra features, integrations and how quickly your content and feedback arrive set the rest of the schedule, and we confirm the timing before work starts.
Who do we call when something in the store stops working?
Whoever looks after the store. With one of our maintenance packages, that is the team that built it, covering updates, backups, security checks and support. Without one, you keep the administrator login and can still ask us to fix something when you need it.
Who owns the store once the pieces are put together?
You do. You hold the administrator login from launch, and the products, customers and orders sit in your own WordPress site. WooCommerce is open source, so any WordPress developer can work on the store; keeping us for maintenance is your choice, not a condition.
Let's put your store together.
Tell us what you sell, how you ship and which builder you have been looking at. We will explain which package covers the pieces you need, what would be quoted on top, and confirm the price in writing before any work starts, from our team at Wurtulla on the Sunshine Coast.
