Protect Your Website With Two-Factor Authentication

Step-by-step help for managing your website, email and online tools.

Two-factor authentication adds a second check to your WordPress login. This guide applies to websites using Wordfence Login Security; menu labels and access depend on the site setup.

Set up your own account

  1. Sign in with your individual account and open Wordfence > Login Security. Select My 2FA. Ask DIGITALON for help if the option is unavailable.
  2. Add this website to a TOTP authenticator app by scanning the displayed QR code.
  3. Download the recovery codes and keep them somewhere secure, separate from your phone.
  4. Enter the current six-digit code from the app, then select Activate.
  5. Before signing out, test your login in a private browser window. Check any custom or WooCommerce login separately.

Keep access recoverable

Use the correct website entry in your authenticator when signing in. If the device is unavailable, a saved recovery code can replace the app code; each recovery code works once. Do not send your password, QR code or recovery codes by email.

See Wordfence’s setup and recovery instructions, or contact DIGITALON for help.
